Jun 16, 2017 Bighorn Valve Inc. Successfully Completes Functional Testing of a Manual Magnetically Operated (“Zero Leakage”) Globe Throttle Valve

In March 2016, Bighorn Valve Incorporated (Sheridan, Wyoming) was awarded a contract from the Naval Nuclear Laboratory to modify an existing class 2500 globe throttle valve to employ a magnetic operator. Recently, the initial functional testing of the valve was completed. The testing included hydrostatic testing to 5250 psig, stem force measurements as a function of magnetic torque applied, and flow testing including valve operation as a function of differential pressure. The test results met the expected design performance and provide additional proof that the Bighorn valve design and const ...

Oct 26, 2015 ANNOUNCING: API 624 and API 6FA CERTIFICATIONS

Big Horn Valve, Inc.’s announces: Big Horn Valve’s “inherently leak free” gate valves were recently certified by an independent testing laboratory (YARMOUTH RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY), passing two of the most stringent tests for oil and gas valves; API 624 and API 6FA. Our “Inherently Leak Free” valves promise to be a WIN-WIN for both the environment & the oil and gas industry. The technology breaks away from traditional stem packings for the control of emissions. This new technology encapsulates the stem of any given valve within a leak-free chamber, that is magnetically actuated, renders ...

Oct 26, 2015 New Inherently Leak Free Valve Technology for the Oil & Gas Industry

Sheridan Wyoming: Nov. 12, 2015: Big Horn Valve, Inc.’s announces: “Inherently Leak Free” valves promises to be a WIN-WIN for both the regulators & the oil and gas industry. The technology breaks away from traditional stem packings for the control of emissions. This new technology encapsulates the stem of any given valve within a leak-free chamber, that is magnetically actuated, renders expensive stem bellows and/or high tech stem packings obsolete. Bellows and stem leakage is, of course, expensive for energy producers while at the same time it threatens the environment. This is a win-w ...

Jul 22, 2013 Leak Proof Valves into Field Trials

Big Horn Valve announces leak proof valves into field trials in selected sites in the US. New advancements in valve design allow for extended production life of the valve as well as greatly reduced requirements in valve stem torque. (By reducing valve stem torque the expense and size of actuators can be significantly reduced.) The Chemical and Petroleum Refining Industries will be the first to experience the advanced features and benefits of this new patent pending valve technology. ...

May 6, 2011 4th Qtr. 2010- 1st Qtr. 2011 April 30, 2011 Newsletter

In March, a Phase III proposal was submitted to NASA / Johnson Space Center for a High Pressure (5000 psi.) helium valve for use in space vehicles (as opposed to launch vehicles). This project is a follow-up to our successful Phase II project with JSC that led to the development of the MagBall™ valve design. We were notified in Early April that this proposal had been accepted and that work will begin on May 5. We are excited about this project because high-pressure helium is used at all of the NASA centers. A leak-free valve would find many uses throughout the various centers, and c ...
